Holcomb steps into director's role at FSB Institute for Entrepreneurship

The Farmer School of Business Institute for Entrepreneurship has a new leader for the new school year. Dr. Tim Holcomb took the reins from Dr. Brett Smith in early July.
Holcomb has held the Endowed Cintas Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship since coming to Miami from Florida State in 2014.
Prior to teaching, Holcomb was an Associate Partner at Accenture, founded four different companies, and held a top leadership role in a multinational. He’s currently on several company boards, such as ReliaQuest, OROS, Cerkl, and mIQroTech.
“Since its launch in 1992, Miami University’s Institute for Entrepreneurship has grown in international prominence, ranking among the top undergraduate entrepreneurship programs in the nation for the past decade. Much of the program’s success can be attributed to outstanding students who are willing to learn and a group of faculty and staff that don’t simply teach students about entrepreneurship, but teach them how to do it,” Holcomb said. “That practice-based, immersive approach to teaching entrepreneurship, combined with the program’s cross-discipline focus that actively engages students from more than 70 majors across campus, is what unleashes the entrepreneurial mindset in our graduates.”
“So it should go without saying that I’m excited about the opportunity to lead the Institute,” he remarked.
Smith, who had served as the director since 2011, remarked, “Tim is the perfect choice to lead the next phase of the Institute for Entrepreneurship. His passion, experience, network and approach is just what we need to continue to realize our vision of being the best undergraduate entrepreneurship program in the country.”
Smith remains at the Farmer School in his new role as the Cintas Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship where he will lead efforts in social entrepreneurship, including academic research at the intersection of faith and entrepreneurship.
